hello from vancouver

February 11th, 2009

We are off to Vancouver, Canada this week. We have planned a perfect trip with the boys and my husband. Even though it was kind of a last minute decision, it seemed to be a problem free family vacation!!! Until we actually arrived here it was truly perfect. So here we are! We arrived last Saturday safe and sound despite a long boring flight. the boys have been entertaining each other so well recently, it finally became very pleasant to travel together. It has been about two years since our last visit to Vancouver and the kids are extremely excited to go skiing for the first time.We arrived at night and were so hungry - we had to eat. We picked our usual place and had a nice dinner. My picky eaters were very pleased with the delicious meals at the restaurant. — until I found a little piece of peanut in the sauce. “Stop!!!!!!!” I just screamed at the restaurant and called the waitress. - how can it be possible to find a peanut in the dish ????Checked the boys who both have a severe peanut allergy, yet, they seemed to be fine. But we had to stop eating and return to the menu. But nothing was delicious anymore after all that madness. We came out and thought ” Gosh, kids’ allergies must have gotten so much better!!! I better go check again.” and we did some quick shopping for some necessary stuff.  And all of a sudden, the little one started having breathing problems, his eyes were puffed and so red. and coughing like crazy.. it was about 15 min after the meal. I gave him benadryl, inhaler, and so on. But it was just impossible to make him feel better until about an hour of struggling.Anyone, please tell me why these things happen all at the same time???I still feel the pain! Ever since then, he has to take the medicine every 4-6 hours. SO we skipped the first two days of skiing. Instead we relaxed and visited some less active places like here… This picture was taken with my little point and shoot camera, but I have to admit that every angle you shoot from is beautiful here. This place is Horseshoe Bay. We had dinner there at the boathouse.below is like a joke. A seagull was posing for me. I thought it was so funny that he was in the picture. It just flew and sat in front of the cam. It was indeed a beautiful day!Whenever we are here, we feel so peaceful and calm. It usually rains during the winter months, but the sky was just perfect all day today.Wow, I can breathe here!!! My husband and boys had a great time. Everything was so beautiful!I just wanted to share the beauty of this place with you all. I wish I could capture how beautiful it was in the picture. But I have to admit, the picture does NOT do it justice in this case. And these silly boys of mine… of course.I will try to take more pictures of the mountainous parts of Vancouver tomorrow and hopefully can share them with you all soon. We will be back next week!
